Experience

Gary has more than 30 years' consulting and executive management experience in both the public and private sector environments.  He has extensive experience in organisational review, major organisational change and improvement, service delivery, commercial operations and management of large organisations.

In addition to his consultancy experience, Gary has held management positions at State and National levels in the private sector, as well as that of Executive Director, Deputy Director-General and CEO in the Queensland public service.

Gary has broad based experience in resolving difficult and complex organisational challenges. In combination with his commercial and executive management experiences, he brings a mature and practical approach to resolving strategic and operational challenges and dilemmas at any level in an organisation. Gary’s approach is outcome oriented and team based and looks to ensure ownership of all solutions by all key stakeholders especially impacted employees.  

Qualifications

Gary holds Bachelor Degrees in both Commerce and Economics from the University of Queensland and has been trained in a variety of supporting organisational tools and techniques over the years such as MBTI, NLP, psychotherapy, negotiation skills and counselling.

Expertise

Gary is a very experienced transformation director particularly within the public-sector environment and has led a wide variety of transformation projects over his career covering the following areas:

  • The establishment of new departments.
  • The establishment of statutory authorities.
  • The amalgamation and de amalgamation of departments and components of departments.
  • Review and change implementation for whole departments and various components of departments especially corporate services functions.
  • The transfer of government functions to Government owned entities.
  • Major change programs in a variety of different departments and semi government entities.
  • A range of commercialisation projects and reviews of shared services organisations.
  • ICT reviews and ICT project rescue.
  • Working with various groups on strategic and business planning, executive and team development, recruitment and selection and mentoring.
