Cathi Collier is an experienced executive and non-executive director who has worked in government, the media, commercial and not for profit sectors.
She has held senior executive roles in the Queensland and Australian governments, worked as a newspaper journalist, managed small businesses, and tutored in Media Relations and Publicity at the Queensland University of Technology.
Cathi has worked across a diverse range of portfolios from defence, resources, energy, tourism, communications and aviation to health, and education. She has worked to Premiers and Prime Ministers across the political spectrum.
Her commercial experience includes executive management an education and training export business valued at more than $26 million a year, delivering a $3 million annual profit.
Cathi is vice-chair of the Board of Equestrian Queensland, the peak body for the administration of equestrian sports in Queensland, which represents 15,000 participants across the Olympic sports of dressage, eventing, showjumping and para equestrian, along with show horse, vaulting, carriage driving and interschool sports. Nationally the equestrian industry contributes more than $1.1 billion to the economy.
Cathi is a problem solver with pragmatic creativity who has a reputation for developing new ideas into action. Her outstanding strengths include dealing with ambiguity, creativity, timely decision making, motivating others, organisational and strategic agility. She adds value to an organisation through her understanding of government, the media and communications; combined with a drive to get things done and an ability to distill complex information and convey the appropriate messages to diverse stakeholders.
Cathi holds a Master of Business Administration, is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Justice of the Peace (Qualified). She is trained in negotiation skills.
